Highland Academy has secured the services of top ranked football recruit Chandler Matthews. With Matthew’s 6’1″ frame and monster left arm its no wonder he’s a top prospect at QB in the nation. Matthews was quoted as saying, “I know people are questioning my decision to commit to a first year school for my senior season, and I understand their thoughts. But myself, I want to be part of something special, to create history with my team and school. It’s a ton of pressure but its something that will only help me progressing to the next level.” Coach Burroughs is excited to get Matthews into the film room and onto the practice field as soon as he can, with practices starting in early June. Burroughs points out that even past his physical ability, Matthew’s ability to lead a team and make smart decisions as a quarterback and a student its whats going to really stand out. Burroughs followed with, “Matthews is a tremendous player, and a tremendous person. Here at Highland you’ll see him flourish, and hopefully I’ll be here to help facilitate his move into college.” The coach also continued by joking about recent daily calls for Matthews, but refused to mention any of the college suitors.
